General Care

Cleaning: Wash shrouds regularly with mild soapy water and a soft cloth or sponge. Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove any residue.

Frequency: In normal suburban environments, clean at least every 6 months. In coastal, industrial or high-pollution areas, clean every 3 months or more frequently if required.

Avoid Abrasives: Do not use harsh chemicals, solvents, acidic cleaners, steel wool or abrasive pads, as these may damage the aluminium surface or finish.

Drainage: Keep surrounding areas clear to allow proper water runoff and to reduce pooling or debris build-up.

Protective Finishes

If your shrouds are supplied with a powder-coated or anodised finish:

• Follow the finish manufacturer's care recommendations in addition to this guide.
• Avoid exposure to highly alkaline or acidic substances, which may cause staining or corrosion.

Inspection

Routine Check: Inspect shrouds at least once a year for signs of damage, loose fixings, corrosion, or surface deterioration.

Action: Promptly repair or replace damaged or corroded parts to maintain structural integrity and safety.

Coastal and Harsh Environments

Aluminium is resistant to rust but can be affected by salt spray and airborne pollutants. In coastal or industrial locations, more frequent cleaning and inspection are essential to reduce the risk of corrosion or staining.

Repainting and Refinishing

Over time, finishes may fade or lose gloss due to UV exposure.

Repainting or refinishing may be carried out by a qualified tradesperson following appropriate surface preparation.
