How to Choose the Right Window Shroud

Selecting the right window shroud depends on your building design, window configuration, and installation requirements. This guide covers the key decisions to get right before you order.

    Start with the Window Configuration

The number of exposed sides around your window determines which shroud type you need. A window centred in a flat facade typically needs a four-sided shroud. Windows at building corners or adjacent to other elements may only need three or two sides.

    • Four sided: Full perimeter framing — the most common choice for standalone windows
    • Three sided: Used when one edge meets a wall return, soffit, or adjacent window
    • Two sided: Corner applications or where two edges are bounded by other elements

    Consider the Depth

Shroud depth (projection from the facade) affects both the visual impact and the shadow line. Deeper shrouds create more dramatic reveals but require more structural support. Most projects use depths between 50mm and 150mm. Our team can advise on the right depth for your facade design.

    Material and Finish

All EasyShroud units are manufactured from aluminium and finished with a durable powder coat in any standard or custom colour. Aluminium is the best choice for Australian conditions — corrosion-resistant, lightweight, and dimensionally stable.

    Sizing and Tolerances

Every EasyShroud unit is manufactured to your specified dimensions. Provide accurate window opening sizes and we'll engineer the shroud to fit. We recommend measuring after window frames are installed for the best result.
